Evaluating Latency in Multiprocessing Embedded Systems for the Smart Grid

چکیده
Smart grid endpoints need to use two environments within a processing system (PS), one with Linux-type operating (OS) using the Arm Cortex-A53 cores for management tasks, and other standalone execution or real-time OS Cortex-R5 cores. The Xen hypervisor OpenAMP framework allow this, but they may introduce delay in system, some messages smart latency lower than 3 ms. In this paper, Linux thread latencies are characterized by Cyclictest tool. It is shown that when used, scenario not suitable as it does meet ms timing constraint. Then, part evaluated, measuring handle an interrupt created programmable logic (PL). application was run A53 R5 cores, framework. These scenarios all met main contribution of present work detailed characterization each execution, order facilitate selecting most application.

Database Systems for the Smart Grid
In this chapter, two aspects of database systems, namely database management and data mining, for the smart grid are covered. The uses of database management and data mining for the electrical power grid comprising of the interrelated subsystems of power generation, transmission, distribution, and utilization are discussed.
متن کاملOptimal decentralised dispatch of embedded generation in the smart grid
Distribution network operators face a number of challenges; capacity constrained networks, and balancing electricity demand with generation from intermittent renewable resources. Thus, there is an increasing need for scalable approaches to facilitate optimal dispatch in the distribution network. To this end, we cast the optimal dispatch problem as a decentralised agent-based coordination proble...

متن کاملSmart Cameras as Embedded Systems
A "smart camera" is basically a video camera coupled to a computer vision system in a tiny package. This communication begins stating the main differences between smart cameras and standard smart vision systems. A smart camera architecture is described whereby a combination of an on-board microprocessor and PLD’s allow for the embedding of image processing algorithms in the camera. A static thr...
